Mission

The Center for Workplace Democracy works to develop strong local economies and grow small businesses by promoting workplace democracy, worker owned enterprises, cooperatives and other models of employee ownership.

We accomplish this through the following types of activity:

Public Education and Advocacy

CWD is a resource for information about cooperative forms of business and employee ownership.  We can provide presentations and workshops to your community on a variety of topics related to cooperative business development and worker ownership.  Additionally CWD advocates for public policy which supports the development of worker ownership on the local, state and national levels.

Training and Technical Assistance

We provide consulting and technical assistance to businesses in formation and established enterprises.  Our staff and volunteer base can connect your cooperative to experienced professionals.  Our cooperative business development services are offered on a fee for service basis.  Our sliding scale fee structure allows us to make services available to groups with limited resources and social enterprises working in low-income communities.

Networking

CWD works with local allies and partner organizations to connect entrepreneurs and small business with professional resources, financing and small business development assistance.
